Framing Analysis
Donald Trump accused China of compromising U.S. election data and stated he would declassify related intelligence. A 2021 U.S. intelligence community assessment conducted under Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe found no evidence that China or any foreign actor altered voter registrations, ballots, tabulations, or results in the 2020 presidential election. Claims of specific data volumes acquired by China and reports of noncitizen or deceased registrations remain disputed or unverified.
